Summary: | This book is one of three in a new series designed to equip the MRCPsych candidates for their examination. The other two titles cover the Part I paper and Part II Sciences Basic to Psychiatry paper. For the exam, strategy is as important as knowledge and this series provides a unique way of addressing both. To be of any value an MCQ book must aim to teach as much as to test. All questions in these books are relevant to the MRCPsych syllabus and pitched at the right level of difficulty. In addition, they are based on substantial and diverse sources such as papers cited in the Recommended Reading Lists of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, major textbooks, key papers from leading psychiatric journals and articles recommended in seminars held at the Institute of Psychiatry. Explanations are given for most questions and notes and references to further reading provided. All the papers have been audited by MRCPsych candidates and each question was scrutinized by over a dozen registrars for accuracy, ambiguity, relevance and difficulty. An introduction gives a clear explanation of the nature of the MRCPsych examination and the principles underlying question setting. Reassuring guidance on good study skills and examination technique is included since most candidates prove to be out of practice in both areas |
