One major change was made to the taxation system siz with effect from year of assessment 2004 et seq remittances of income to Malaysia by resident individuals, trust bodies, co-operatives and Hindu joint families are tax-exempt. It would be recalled that with effect from year of assessment 1995 companies and unit trusts were exempt on remittances of income to Malaysia (Income Tax Exemption (No 48) Order 1997).
