Description
Summary:The services provided by professionals such as engineers, doctors, architects, lawyers, accountants and others are very important in developing and improving the well-being of a community. As a group that is given a high status in society, it is appropriate that they carry out the responsibility of providing that service with full dedication, honesty and trust. However, it cannot be denied that these professionals are always faced with various ethical dilemmas which, if not dealt with properly, will affect their image and career field. There are times when a professional who has low ethical awareness will easily fall into misconduct (unethical) such as taking bribes, committing fraud, breach of trust, selfishness and others. If this act continues and is widespread, it is certain that society and the country will bear the consequences. Therefore, ethical knowledge and awareness should be present among all these professionals. This book was produced based on lecture notes collected over five years for the subject of Professional Ethics which became a compulsory elective subject at the university. Apart from being a textbook, this book can also be used as a guide on ethical responsibilities to future professionals, professionals, educators and general readers. However, one thing that needs to be paid attention to is that simply knowing theoretically about ethics and ethical responsibility alone does not necessarily make a person have a high ethical awareness. What is more important is a matter of appreciation (practice) and earnest commitment.
