The Malays are very firm in their adherence to customs, especially the custom of marriage. But it still changes the results of education received and the influence of the surrounding situation. Most of the Malay wedding ceremonies and customs are the result of the influence from the Indian subcontinent which has permeated from the palace to finally spread among the common people. This has been the case since the fourth century, the result of the activities of Hindu or Buddhist Indian traders and missionaries. Malay wedding ceremonies, even if practiced because of custom alone, without understanding or appreciating the needs, which are passed down from one generation to the next, is still one of the branches of culture that is still admired.
