Print publications, though, are the oldest medium of mass communication, but still continue to be relevant today. Thus, the study of printed publications continues to gain a place in higher education institutions. This book discusses the basic elements in publishing that need to be understood to deepen this field. Among the elements that are given attention are the processes in publishing, i.e. authorship, editing. design, printing, sales, and marketing. In addition, the history of books as a medium of communication and economic aspects of publishing and legislation are also given attention. Publishing is the oldest mass communication tool and is the basis for the birth of other mass communication mediums. Therefore, understanding it is important enough to be the basis for understanding other mediums.
