Description
Summary:Glenn Murcutt is one of the world's most celebrated living architects and is widely hailed as Australia's architect laureate. He was awarded the Pritzker prize in May 2002 and is one of only seven recipients of the prestigious Alvar Aalto Medal. This volume is an up-to-date examination of Murcutt's work. Full-colour photography, much of it supplied from the architect's own private collection, and a comprehensive selection of drawings and concept sketches, are complemented by Glenn's own notes, and the commentary of internationally recognised architectural editors, Professor Haig Beck and Jackie Cooper. This book explores the buildings and projects drawn from a wide variety of contexts: coastal, mountainous, tropical and desert, and urban. Glenn Murcutt has also been awarded the Thomas Jefferson Medal for Architecture, the Keneth F. Brown International Award for Architectural Culture in the Asia Pacific region, and was awarded an International Honorary fellowship from the Royal Institute of Canadian Architects.
