Macedonian literature in its early stages was a struggle and patriotic fighter. against colonization and reestablishing the dignity of Macedonia in particular and Yugoslavia in general. The Macedonian poets are not only wrestled by grandiose dreams but they have a sacred mission to liberate their homeland. Literature is used as a tool to achieve independence. The Macedonian poets fought to reassert the Macedonian language as a dignified national language. The results can be seen after the second World War when Contemporary poets continue to enrich the Macedonian poetry garden.
