This book that discusses the function of management is directly related to management in engineering-based organizations. Based on the author's experience at various levels of engineering and management careers in several organizations, this book has been put together in such an orderly manner to give young engineers and future engineers a clear picture of the possibilities they will face throughout their career. This book also gives awareness to young engineers and future engineers about how important the role of management skills is in determining the excellence of an engineer's career. Their attention is also brought to evaluate various strengths and weaknesses in themselves. These young engineers and future engineers are also exposed to opportunities and threats in the work environment that they will face. Through this book, the author is confident that the readers will be able to organize the strategies that will be implemented to overcome the weaknesses as well as consolidate all the advantages that exist to face the threats and seize the opportunities that exist throughout their career. SALIHUDIN HASSIM started his engineering career in the Public Works Department as a Structural Design Engineer, Project Engineer and Acting District Engineer. Before leaving the public service, he worked at the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development as Assistant Director at the Contractor Service Center and Chairman of Contractor Registration in several states. He then ventured into the corporate sector and held the position of General Manager of an engineering company listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange before becoming a lecturer in the field of Construction Management at the Faculty of Engineering at Universiti Putra Malaysia. At the same time he is also a member of the Board of Directors of an engineering company and an advisor to several other engineering companies. PROF. ASSOCIATE DR. MOHD. RAZALI ABDUL KADIR began his teaching career at UPM since 1985, after obtaining his master's degree at Loughborough University. In 1996, he was awarded a doctorate in Project Management from the same university. The author was a member of the European Construction Institute research team in England in 1994-1996. Active author producing working papers in national and international journals and conferences. As a professional engineer with the Malaysian Board of Engineers, the author is also involved in consultancy work in the field of housing and project management. The author is currently the Deputy Dean and also a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, UPM.
