Summary:Mario Schjetman was born in Mexico City in 1945. He completed architecture studies at the National University of México (UNAM) in 1968. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture with emphasis in Urban design at the University of California, Berkley in 1970. In 1985 he was appointed Loeb Fellow in Advanced Environmental Studies at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He received an Honorary PhD. from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Mexico, 1995. He is a founding partner, together with José Luis Pérez, of Grupo de Diseño Urbano (GDU), a firm established in 1977 in Mexico City with projects in landscape architecture, architecture and urban design. He is a founding member and ex-president of the Mexican Society of Landscape Architects, Fellow of the National Academy of Architecture in Mexico, and Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. In spring of 1999, Schjetnan was given the Federico Mariscal Chair for a series of lectures at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
