The material is utilitarian, focusing on the ma jor problems of ESL students as reflected in an analysis of their compositions. Like the various forms of the Harbrace College Workbook, Section 1 provides a thorough discussion of the basic sentence parts and ways of combining sentences to produce effective patterns. This new version of the workbook also includes explanations of and exercises on such features as the use of articles with countable and uncountable nouns-structures that rarely concern native speakers. Sections 2 through 30 consider special problems in writing and pune tuating sentences, and Sections 31 and 32 explain the combining of sentences into organized and effective paragraphs and multiparagraph compositions.
