 Coverage: This book is intended for students at technical schools or two- year technical colleges. Depending on the pace and the amount of material included, it may be used for either a two- or a three-semester course. The text starts with Numerical Computation, which is largely review material. In addition to arithmetic, other topics include calculator opera- tions, significant digits, scientific notation, and conversion of units-some of which may be unfamiliar to high school graduates. Geometry, which is often placed in an appendix, is here presented in the second chapter, where it can be covered if needed, or skipped without harm. The emphasis here is on computation of areas and volumes.
