It differs from traditional treatments in the way in which structured questions are integrated within the text. These questions are specifically designed for use by students of a wide range of abilities, thereby making the book particularly useful for mixed-ability classes. Both theoretical and experimental aspects of the course are covered and in the treatment of these aspects particular attention has been paid to problems of classroom management. The book is designed to allow teachers as much flexibility as possible in the way that they use the materials. Some teachers will want their students to attempt all the questions on their own, whereas others will prefer a more selective approach. However, the course should be worked through sequentially since each topic builds on the earlier work covered, providing a logical route through the often confusing interconnections between the various aspects of physics.
