 This book is concerned with the impact of the new technologies on education and training. It is based on papers presented at a recent conference held by the Scottish Council for Educational Technology. Part 1 considers what skills and qualities will be required by those who start work in the near future. It considers the future administrative, social and political effects on education and training as a result of the introduction of the new technologies, posing questions about the implications for the curriculum within existing educational institutions. Part 2 discusses how teachers, trainers and pupils may learn to exploit the new situation reconciling the generally cautious pace of educational development with the speed of technological change. Part 3 is a series of written reports on the workshops held during the Conference with discussion of topical issues such as interactive video. Part 4 is a report on the Training Technologies Exhibition which gives a full and interesting selection of items and systems exhibited. Part 5 contains appendices, glossary and index.
