Summary: | The Muslim World is passing through a transition period of tremend- ously fast geo-political transformation and of rapid social change. God-given wealth has brought both worldly prestige and unforeseen worries. In order to cope with these problems and at the same time save the Muslim world from being over-run or controlled by alien ideas and forces, the authorities had to learn and teach modern knowledge in all its forms. Along with this came modern Western methodology and Western secular concepts dominating all branches of knowledge. The rapidity with which expansion of education was considered necessary made it extremely difficult for authorities to wait till Islamic concepts were evolved by Muslim scholars. But by the grace of Allah Muslim scholars have become aware of the consequence of these concepts and the way brainwashing is effected by Western methodology. King Abdulaziz University therefore organized the First World Conference on Muslim Education. It was held in the holy city of Mecca from 31 March to 8 April, 1977 12-20 Rabiuttani, 1937 A.H., in order to discuss this problem and find ways and means of evolving Islamic concepts and of creating Islamic methodology. |
