Description
Summary:This book outlines the development of literature by Chinese writers in Malaya/Malaysia throughout the years 1919-1965. Its contents include the history of the rise of Mahua literature, the figures and writers involved and the works produced. Also included are the problems faced by these Mahua writers, in addition to discussions about the polemics that took place in the 1940s related to Nanyang literature (overseas Chinese) and Mahua literature (literature of Malayan/Malaysian Chinese). Discussions up to 1965 marked the year of Singapore's separation from Malaysia. With that, Malayan/Malaysian Chinese writers also separated from Singaporean Chinese.
