 The fruit industry in Malaysia involves no less than 135000 farming families (Ministry of Agriculture Malaysia 1984). Local fruits have properties and qualities and qualities that can match the fruits of temperate climate. Local fruits have gained a good market either locally or internationally. Meanwhile, guava fruit (psidium guajava L.) is one of the local fruit varieties that has a domestic market for fresh consumption or made drinks. There are several varieties of guava grown for the market such as GU 5, GU 8 (Kampuchea), Gu 9 (Glom-fa-lee), Gu 10 (Kloontau) and Thai. In general, guava is round, oval and has the shape of a pear. The skin is thin greenish and the contents are fragile, juicy and in terms of nutritional value high levels of vitamins A and C.
