 The Essence of Islam" is an anthology based upon the Qur'an, Islamic scripture, and secondarily upon Haddith, the second most important source of Islamic law and spiritual life. This anthology primarily deals with the Qur'an and brings out Hadith where necessary. It is compiled by Syed Hashim Ali Akhter foremost of Indian administrators and educators. The anthology responds to the growing desire among both Muslims and non-Muslims to know about the basic teachings of Islam. The Qur'an and the Haddith are two most important sources of Islamic law, ethics, and social life, and the compiler has allowed both these sources to speak directly to the readers on major topics, describing the message of Islam and the Islamic position on various human life issues.
