Description
Summary:Sulalat al-Salatin ya'ni Perteturun All Rulers (Malay History) is a great Malay epic about the rise, glory and fall of the Malacca Sultanate created from the king's decree. It is considered important because it tells the customs of the Malay kingdom, the genealogical arrangement of the Malay rulers and the history of the Malay kingdom. His speciality is not only seen in terms of his age but also in terms of language, historical content, narrative style, literary references, culture, customs, clothing, armament, nationalism and so on. This work can be divided into two groups of stories or episodes, namely, the basic story, and secondly, the twig story. The episode of the social contract between Demang Lebar Daun and Seri Teri Buana, which draws on the relationship and responsibilities of the king and the people is an example for the first group. Similarly, the episode of the discovery and establishment of the state of Melaka concreted the story on a tree named Melaka and a "dog spun by a white horn". The wealth, strength and fall of Malacca in turn is sought at the core of its image and framed by events that are usually quite clear. Dozens of small stories that are considered twigs are also powerful in their narrative artistry, and help to place this work among the greatest works in the world. Sulalat al-Salatin ya'ni Perteturun All Rulers (Malay History) is based on a copy (manuscript) of Raffles Malay 18 which is stored in the Library of the Royal Asiatic Society, London, and was published in the edition of Karya Agung Melayu by Yayasan Karyawan and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka as a co-publisher in 1997. Now, the book is republished as a new edition (soft cover edition) by not changing the original text.
