Company law continues to play a pivotal role in the legal environment of business in Malaysia. An appreciation of its intricacies is essential to successful business. The subject is by its very nature complex, involving as it does, a blend of an intimidating array of statutory provisions and voluminous case laws. It is virtually impossible to comprehend the provisions of the companies legislation without constant reference to relevant cases. There is a dearth of case law materials relating to company law in Malaysia; hence this book. As company law is inundated with cases, I have had, of necessity, to be circumspect in the task of selecting cases to be included in order to keep the book within a manageable size. In writing the book I have conciously tried to avod merely presenting a collection of company law cases. The format used is to state the law simply and succinctly, followed by a selection of relevant cases and supplemented by commentaries where appropriate. It is hoped that the style adopted will facilitate a better understanding of the subject. Moreover, perhaps unlike the more conventional casebooks', the style is conducive to using the book as a self-contained text on the subject.
