Description
Summary:Management techniques for librarians is intended to be used as a textbook in introductory courses, library management courses and information centers. This book emphasizes the basic issues and concepts in management that are very important for those who are new to the field. Although not a view of cutting-edge management trends, this new edition places more emphasis on cutting-edge management trends than the first edition. Discussions of collective bargaining (a more frequent issue than in 1974 and 1975, when the first edition was written) and the merit system (public service) have been expanded to a full reason (13) in this edition. The subject of leadership is in many chapters of the first edition; in this edition, Chapter 11 is devoted entirely to this chapter. Two chapters on the history of management and the approach to open management in the first edition have been combined into Chapter 3
