Summary: | This book analyses how companies listed in the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange are connected through common substantial shareholders. The result of the survey which was carried out between June 1988 and June 1989 showed that there are twenty two corporate groupings in the KLSE involving close to 100 companies. This means that one out of three public listed companies in the KLSE is invariably linked to a group (there are 297 companies listed in the KLSE). Some of the prominent groups of companies covered in this book include the Kuok group, the See Hoy Chan group, the UOB group, Singapore's Temasek Holdings Pte Ltd, the OCBC group, Khong Guan, Sime Darby, Boustead Holdings, companies grouped under prominent personalities like Goh Tjoei Kok, Khoo Teck Puat, Lee Loy Seng and Lee Thor Seng. There is a special write up on Permodalan Nasional Berhad's substantial shareholdings in public listed companies with charts showing its investments in the various counters of the KLSE board. Another useful feature to investors in general is the shareholding information provided in this book in regard to the many private limited companies incorporated in Malaysia and Singapore which are the substantial shareholders of the various public listed companies appearing in this book. |
