Often, microorganisms that live in the host body then move to humans because humans are unable to maintain the cleanliness of the environment (Anies, 2006). The transfer of microorganisms (agents) of a disease from the environment to humans can be mediated by vectors. Vectors are arthropods that can transfer/transmit an infectious agent from the source of infection to a vulnerable host. All vectors are included in the arthropod phylum, but not all arthropods act as vectors. Arthropods that are included in the vector include mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches, pinjal and others (Slamet, 2011). In addition to vectors, there are also contagious diseases called vehicles. The difference between vehicles and vectors is that vehicles are inanimate objects such as water, soil, air that can transmit diseases while vectors are living beings. Some important morphological characteristics of arthropod vectors are that the whole body has segments that are connected with the joints that form the legs, abdomen, chest and head. The whole body is also protected by a hard membrane called chitin (Komariah, 2010). University of North Sumatra
