This book was conceived as a practical guide to desktop publishing (DTP) for librarians. It was the intention to provide, above all, a critical and moderately unbiased guide to the software together with suggestions for its use in libraries. In doing this the bias of the book is different from many of the many texts already published on DTP which concentrate on the background to the technology and simple outlines of packages.
