 This novel displays the background and history of UMNO's political struggle in demanding the independence of the country which is described in depth and quite convincingly. Her two main characters, Ramlah and Mariam, who represented women in UMNO's political struggle before independence, are described as tenacious and big -hearted women. They were willing to face various challenges and trials either in terms of psychology, culture and customs of the Malays at that time who looked down on the struggle and involvement of women in social and political activities. They fought without knowing the time limit until at one point a domestic crisis broke out because they paid more attention to their struggle.
