The discussion uses the framework of the Theory of Power and Attachment expressed by Chomsky (1986). In general, this theory contains several autonomous but interrelated subtheories. Among these subtheories, the important ones in this study are X-crossed Theory, Power Theory, Case Theory and some principles such as the Empty Category Principle, Case Filter and Subjacency. The author has made a comparison between several languages from different language families. Among the languages that received attention are Malay from the Austronesian language family, English from the Germanic language family, and two languages from the Kru language family, namely Vata and Gbadi. This comparison highlights some interesting features and syntactic structures of the Malay language that can be used to expand research on the Malay language. This study also takes into account some ways to explain some Malay syntactic constructions that previously could not be explained well. At least in theory, the recommendations made here can overcome the recommendations presented earlier.
