 A directory of over 700 institutions from Aberdeen to Westminster. The first edition of this book was published in 1987 under the title "Libraries in Colleges of Further and Higher Education". It was produced in response to requests received by Library Association Publishing over a number of years for a directory of basic information about libraries in colleges of differing kinds. This third edition is substantially expanded, and lists institutions with their address, telephone, fax and e-mail numbers (including the new 1995 telephone codes). It also gives hours of opening, and number of staff, size of stock, controlling authority, and the relationship with other departments and institutions. From the indexes users can establish, for example, which colleges are in Cambridgeshire; which colleges have medical collections; and where one can find the Earl Grey collection, the Darwin manuscripts or the Bible Society collection. The book is produced by mailing questionnaires to institutions included in the previous edition, together with additional institutions identified from other sources.
