Summary: | THIS book was rewritten for the third edition in order to provide an introduction to the subject of cost accounting for those who are preparing for the preparatory examinations of the professional bodies, and those of the Royal Society of Arts, London Chamber of Commerce and other bodies, in which cost accounting is included as part of the normal accounting course. It is gratifying to find that these aims appear to have been achieved. The author are particularly pleased that many readers are engaged in industry, but not necessarily in the cost accounting field. The pressure of "cost-consciousness" in all sections of industry makes executives aware of the necessity of some knowledge of the subject, and this book gives them what they require. In the sixth edition the opportunity has been taken to bring the text up to date and to provide a number of recent questions. In response to many requests from readers, suggested answers have been provided for all numerical questions. It is hoped that these will be useful to all examination candidates. All the professional bodies approached have readily given their consent to the use of their examination papers. |
