This guide tries to identify the strength of what is in the library as well as special collections if any. The information contained is based on answers from a questionnaire distributed in the middle of 1990. There are about 5 institutions that did not return the questionnaire, namely the Irrigation and Drainage Department, the Factory and Machinery Department, the Royal Malaysian Customs and Excise Department, the Goethe Institute, the Sabah Foundation , then the information used is the same as in the first edition. The Publication Supply System is the main way libraries and institutions share information resources or materials. In this regard, it is very necessary for librarians and information officers to identify strong subject areas in local library collections to meet the information and reference needs of library users. For this purpose, the publication of the Guide to the Strength of Library Collections was undertaken. This guide is arranged in alphabetical order under the official name of the library. Two indexes are provided at the end of this guide, namely the subject index and the institution index, which also includes popular acronyms and abbreviations of institutions.
