Description
Summary:Nothing happened to me until this spring. I don't mean that nothing had happened in relation to what a teacher would call my "environment"; I mean that nothing had happened to me; myself; Deitz. What I want to do is to get everything down on paper. The good, the bad, the whole. You see, it was both good and bad. But I don't want to forget any of it. If I forget, I'm sunk. It all started the night we went to the try-outs for the Little Theatre play. My mother and I and my sister, Lee, had eaten daning pingoang dinner and then put the roast back in the oven to keep warm for my father. He's a doctor and he wasn't home yet. It had been sort of a crazy dinner because the kitchen was being redone-we were redecorating-and we ate from trays in the clubroom, surrounded by all the junk the painters had thrown out of the kitchen. "I hope I get a part in this stupid play," Lee growled, looking around for the ketchup bottle. She found it, finally, behind a stack of cookbooks.
