However, the main readers will be a newmeration of students for whom English is a second or third language. With this in mind, the author has attempted to keep the language simple without sacrificing legal accuracy. While the book provides information on the legal system, it also raises questions on several significant issues. Malaysia's cultural tradition like so many others in Asia tends to inhibit quastioning and critical evaluation. A large proportion of students would probably attempt to memorize information and regurgitate it for examinations. The author hopes students using this book will adopt a different approach and examine issues with an inquiring and critical eye, for the acquisition of knowledge is more than memorizing a mans of information; it involves the processes of understanding, analyzing questioning and evaluating. The author provides ample references to leading cases and cites important source materials for students who wish to delve deeper into the subject.
