Description
Summary:Environmental Science: Action for a Sustainable Future may be one of the most important textbooks you will ever read. Why? Because it deals with one of the most important issues of our time: the environment. More specifically, it details the massive erosion of the life support systems of the planet upon which our lives and our economies depend. Like other textbooks on the subject, this one offers an in-depth look at the environmental problems facing the world. It examines the future prospects of human civilization and the environment, intimately bound together, but rarely considered in most human deliber ations. It also discusses a variety of positive solutions for businesses, governments, and individuals. Unlike other texts, this one has changed dramati cally in recent years to reflect profound changes in think ing. What prompted those changes? Twenty years ago when I embarked on a study of the environment, I learned a great many facts about the environmental problems facing humankind. I found that the issues generally fit into three broad categories-pop ulation issues, resource issues, and pollution issues. Over the years, I also found that most environmental problems sprung from the same root causes.
