Summary:The third Asian regional conference of the IACCP was held at Universiti Ke bangsaan Malaysia (National University of Malaysia) during the first week of May 1983 (2-5 May). It was organised by the Department of Psychology of University Kebangsaan Malaysia in conjuction with the IACCP. The conference marked a milestone in the development of psychology in Malaysia as psychology in Malaysia became known to over 100 psychologists and social scientiests from 15 countries. The participants included not only psychologists but also social scientitsts from other disciplines who have an interest in socio-economic development, the theme of the conference. A wealth of data from Malaysia and other countries were presented and these are reported in six sections. A keynote address by the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, People Participation : A Human Dilemma in Development' introduces the theme of the conference the problems inherent in planning for socio-economic development and the need for the participation of the people involved including the recepients of the development projects.
