Summary: | This text covers ten generic teaching skills that are essential to good teaching at all grade levels and in all subject areas. Taken together, these skills can be thought of as a minimum repertoire that all teachers need to acquire. The book has instructional flexibility: being self-instructional (in-chapter tests with answer keys) it can be used as a core text in skill-oriented general methods courses, as a supplement in courses where general teaching skills are one component, and as a review guide in the senior-level student teaching course or for persons preparing for state or national competency exams. Each chapter begins with specific learning objectives that help focus the reader's attention. Comprehension of key objectives is then checked with the self-tests at the end of the chapters. Teaching planning, implementation and evaluation components are also included. |
