Description
Summary:Research done by the author of this book. Mr. Gan Kok Siong presents an aspect of grammar that is not given much attention by language researchers - auxiliary verbs. His study is summarized in four main chapters that discuss the origin of the Malay language and its development: auxiliary verbs from a semantic aspect: auxiliary verbs from a syntactic aspect: and a comparison of Malaysian auxiliary verbs with English auxiliary verbs. The examples of sentences given by the author may rarely be used by the general public even though in terms of grammar, they can be used. This is a discovery and an attempt to introduce sentence forms that have been considered wrong and awkward by many language users. This book is suitable as a study material as well as a starting point for other more in-depth and detailed studies.
