Through this series, it is hoped that readers can cultivate an interest in reading while appreciating more closely the creative works of Malay literature. Dongeng Merdeka contains 28 short stories by 28 leading writers. The writers represent every era in the development of short stories from the fifties to the eighties. The themes presented in this anthology are religious, humanitarian, social, oral, struggle, unity and so on. The characters highlighted reflect the various races found here.
