Description
Summary:This anthology offers a selection of outstanding representative work of post-war writers, from 1945-1983. It extracts the best from the short story, poetry, drama and criticism. The writers selected for this anthology are among the most notable, who have made significant contribution to the development of contemporary Malaysian literature. Most are now well-known novelists, poets, dramatists or critics who have described the dominant ideas, moods and events of the past four decades. The first of its kind to be published, this collection is the work of an experienced editor, Profesor Muhammad Haji Salleh, who is a Professor of Literature in the Science University of Malaysia, Penang, and an important poet, critic and translator. The meticulous selection is preceded by a long and detailed introduction to the literary scene and its historical, social and political setting.
