520 # # |a A collection of readings, with commentary, on the economics of law and regulation-the first to be published in the United Kingdom-this book provides a survey of an area of scholarship which has been growing rapidly in the last decade, particularly in North America. While the work will be of interest to economists, concerned to see how their discipline has been used to analyse legal principles and institutions, it is intended primarily for lawyers and other social scientists who may be unfamiliar with the theory and techniques of economics. To this end, the collection contains both an introduction to basic concepts and a selection of readings which are not unduly technical or mathematical in character. In their commentaries, the editors provide extensive references to other, often more advanced, literature on the subject. The book is designed either for a specialist course on the economics of law and regulation or to complement more traditional studies.
