520 | # | # | |a Combining the advantages of a textbook and an encyclopaedic dictionary, this important new book contains around 1500 notions covering both current trends in computer science and information technology course requirements which schools and colleges will face in the immediate future. All the notions are clearly explained by lots of examples and more than 600 illustrations. The emphasis is on clear and concise definitions and the book contains many algorithms and programs-for the most part written in Pascal The articles for each main keyword are self-contained and refer to only a few other keywords; notions connected with the main keyword are defined within the same section. The dictionary describes all the important programming languages, listing their special features, and giving one or more examples that make it easy to compare the languages. Information technology is now well established in schools and colleges, and its role is continuously. This encyclopaedia complements IT in education, containing all aspects of IT as it is taught today from the basic concepts (including algorithm, programming language, program and computer) to the more complex notions such as grammar, function, and decidability. To the publisher's knowledge there is no other comparable text which combines the advantages of a textbook and a dictionary, and which standardizes the notions of science. |
