Description
Summary:The purpose of this book is to elucidate materials solence and technology, with some market and econonte criteris, relative to plywood and adhesive technology. The first 15 chapters review the log-to-panel manufacture of structural southern pine plywood from, an adhesive and bonding viewpoint. The last chapters are devoted to resin-adhesives and adhesive mix, technology for plywood. While the data is oriented primarily to southern pine structural plywood, the text includes some pertinent Information on Interior and exterior hardwood plywood. By 1984 over 50 percent of the structural plywood plants in the southern United States were utilizing some hardwood. This book will be of value primarily to plywood manufactur ers, plywood supplier Industries, and any other entity that performs services or research in resin-adhesive wood bonding. The book is not intended to be a classroom text, but it is an excellent resource for the undergraduate senior- and gradu ate-level courses of study in adhesives for wood. There are no university courses specifically devoted to plywood and few devoted to adhesives for wood in North America; nevertheless, there are many courses in wood science and technology and chemistry that can draw from this reference.
