520 | # | # | |a This book is intended to give students an overall view of the subject, either at the commencement of their studies or in conjunction with established textbooks. Although not intended to fill the role of a textbook on its own, its somewhat unorthodox approach and point of view offer a way of looking at contract law which is not to be found in established textbooks. This new edition has been revised extensively to bring the work up to date, but the opportunity has also been taken to introduce the student to the ferment of ideas which have been increasingly affecting academic work on contract law in the past decade or two. The author is, however, careful not to present his unorthodox views without also setting out the traditional approach, showing how and why this approach is increasingly regarded as unacceptable, and illustrating his own views with legal rules and principles and cases. Much of the book therefore offers a very original view of the law of contract, and in that sense is suitable for advanced students; but the introductory nature of the work has not been forgotten, so simplicity and clarity of exposition have been preserved. |
