Each chapter begins with a list of objectives, that is, what you should be able to do when you complete the chapter. The remainder of the chapter is concerned with helping you learn these skills. First, a form, or technique, of communication is presented, as indicated in the chapter title. The form is discussed, and both student and professional examples are given. For student- prepared presentations, there are filled-in Plan Sheets so you can see how planning is essential to a successful presentation. Second, a list of general principles sums up the main points of the chapter. Then a procedure for presenta- tion suggests a method of organization. This step-by-step guide shows what to include and where to include it. Finally, applications are given at the end of each chapter. These applications are exercises to help you attain the skills listed at the beginning of the chapter. |
