is a Japanese privately held publishing company headquartered in Bunkyō, Tokyo. Kodansha publishes the manga magazines , ''Afternoon'', ''Evening'', ''Weekly Shōnen Magazine'', and ''Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine'', as well as the more literary magazines ''Gunzō'', ''Shūkan Gendai'', and the Japanese dictionary, ''Nihongo Daijiten''.
